What I’ve Learned This Year
While the year is still young (hey, it’s only October), Hank at myinvestingblog.com is keen to find out what the single most important thing his readers have learned in the past year.
For me, I’ve been really busy with work and Brenda’s been running most of this blog. With the slump in the global economy and the recent troubles with the big banks in the US, having a job is a blessing in itself.
But because of the tight job market, my boss has been throwing lots of work at me which I’m not supposed to be doing. A lot of it is part of his job duties but I seem to be being pushed to do them while he takes all the credit. I guess he knows that I need the job. I’ve kept quiet and slogged for a long while but with the backing of Brenda and my colleagues, I finally mustered the courage to say ‘no’ to him over a report he should be doing. I explained my reason and he accepted it. While I might have hurt my chances of a promotion, at least I’ve taken the first step to getting some fairness back. So the most important thing I’ve learnt is to learn to say ‘no’ when you know you are right.
Anyway, check out Hank’s contest over here and do participate if you can.
